Frequently Asked Questions -

What to wear?

  • All players need cleats and shin guards (worn under the socks) for every game.
  • Jewelry must be removed. If you have new piercings that cannot be removed, they need to be covered with bandaids for safety.
  • Your coaches will provide you with a shirt and socks.  They will communicate with you about when you will be getting these - most coaches hand them out at the first game.

 What to bring?

  • A water bottle and a ball
  • Grades K-2 use a size 3 ball.
  • Grades 3-5 use a size 4 ball.
  • Grades MS/HS uses a size 5 ball.

What are the rules?

  • All of the Intramural rules can be found on our website - Fall 2023 Rules

When are the games?

  • Our game schedule will be released on August 31 at this link -Fall Intramural Schedule
  • This league will take place from September 9 to November 12.

What if it rains?

  • Soccer plays in the rain!
  • If there is lightning present the players and coaches should immediately leave the field and end the game.
  • If the fields are unsafe due to the quantity of rain the league will send out an email to all players, coaches and referees at the same time to call for cancellation.  Your coach will know at the same time as you.

Where is the field?

Where should we sit?

  • All of the coaches and players from both teams will be sitting along one sideline.
  • The families and spectators should sit on the OPPOSITE side of the field from where the players are seated.  You may want to bring a blanket or chair to sit on.
  • Dogs are not allowed at the fields - please leave your pooch at home.

When is practice?

  • There are no week-day practices for grades K and 1.  Your practice time is built into your Saturday time slot.
  • Grades 2 and above have coach-led practices.  Your coach will reach out to you with information about where and when those will take place.
  • The league runs Age Group Trainings as well for an additional cost.  These are sessions run by a trainer and are for all kids in that age group.  The registration information will be sent to you via email.

What if my player can't make a game?

  • Please let your coach know in advance. Lots of coaches have their lineups set before the game and it is helpful for them to know if a player will not be there.

What if I haven’t heard from my coach?

  • Coaches and rosters are created a few weeks before the season begins.  You should not expect to hear from your coach until about 1-2 weeks before the first game.
  • Occasionally messages from our coaches go to your spam - check there first.
  • If you haven’t heard from your coach by 8 pm on Monday, September 4 please email us at HSCIntramural@HaverfordSoccer.org.  If you e-mail us, please be sure to include your player's name, gender and grade.
